we soon found that the obligatory anaerobic bacterium C. tetanomorphum is not suitable for our study, because it is not easy to keep under anaerobic conditions even with a few liters of culture broth.Thus, we decidcd to screen for ncw microbial strains that are easy to handle and produce high MAL activity.
